In 1970, Makis Karastamatis acquired his first aquarium.

Makis Karastamatis's love for this hobby is so great that he soon sets up 30 aquariums in a private space and begins to study and breed tropical fish. In 1975, together with his brother Dimitris, he founds the company "AMAZONIOS," with the object of building aquariums and trading tropical fish. At that time, the aquarium hobby is not well-known in Greece to become widely recognized. For this reason, in 1979, they publish the magazine titled "TROPIKO ENYDREIO." They participate with well-designed booths in the INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION OF THESSALONIKI at FURNITEC and other sectoral exhibitions, each time showcasing new, beautiful, and functional aquariums, raising the standard of high-quality aquariums. In 1985, the company expands and creates a second new large store of 480 square meters on Angelaki Street. In 2005, the new blood of the Karastamatis family, Stelios and Ioannis, take over the reins of the company, renovating both stores and offering their customers the best services with love.

Amazonios was established online in 2006 with the aim of providing the best, fastest, and most cost-effective service in product sales. As a physical store, it has been in existence since 1975.
