The MAXI filter series can be used for decorative garden ponds and other types of water tanks. This AQUAEL series includes three models.
Depending on the installation option, a MAXI filter can serve as:
an external filter, placed on the bank of a lake or over a waterfall source,
an immersion filter, placed at the bottom of the water tank. If this option is selected, the pump is mounted on the filter cap and additionally serves as a source.
Contents of the standard package
The standard MAXI filter package includes a set of filter media: brushes, sponge, BIO MAX balls and coconut mattress. The package also includes all items needed to install the filter either inside or outside the water tank. In addition to the filter, the package includes a PCV hose with rubber elbow, 3 screws, 3 nuts and a base.
FUNCTION
The set of filter media supplied with the MAXI filter guarantees integrated mechanical and biological filtration.
The MAXI filter can also be equipped with a UV lamp to prevent water bloom and algae growth. The standard MAXI package does not include a UV lamp.
If the MAXI filter is to be used as a fountain, the pump base must be fixed to the filter cover. Connect the spray nozzle to the pump outlet. Screw the stem provided with the standard package to the pump inlet. Then connect the pump with the elbows in conjunction with the suction hose. The hose draws treated water from the bottom of the filter and extracts it through the spray nozzle above the water surface.
If the MAXI filter is used as an external filter, the treated water, reaching the outlet openings at the bottom of the filter, flows back into the pond through the pipes connected to the outlets. If the filter is located above a waterfall, one of the two outlet ports at the bottom can be used to form the waterfall or a cascade. Ensure that the location from which the suction hose draws water into the filter is a sufficient distance from where the treated water is discharged back into the pond.

The media are arranged in layers. The brushes are very good for water pretreatment or mechanical filtration. At the same time, they provide an excellent substrate for the growth of live bacterial cultures.
The next stage of mechanical filtration is carried out with a phenol-free sponge. The sponge is also a particularly favourable environment for the growth of bacterial cultures responsible for the removal of biological contaminants from the tank.
Thanks to its structure, coconut mattress is an excellent mechanical filtration medium and a perfect substrate for the bacterial cultures responsible for biological filtration.
Polystyrene balls have ribs and small openings at both poles. Their action is based on the modulation of aerobic conditions for biochemical processes. On their outer surface, the aerobic conditions are favourable for the oxidation of organic compounds. The inner surface acts as an anaerobic micro-reactor where the reduction of organic compounds takes place. All this leads to very effective water purification.
