It is a moss from Brazil, 1-3 cm tall, called "Christmas tree moss" because of its lateral branching structure, which distinguishes it from the common Vesicularia dubyana and makes it look like fir branches; it is more demanding than the regular Java moss and grows more slowly, easily clinging to roots and stones, and as it spreads in the water it needs pruning to keep its attractive shape.
