Hemianthus Callitrichoides 'Cuba' is one of the smallest aquatic plants in the world. It has round leaves the size of a millimetre. If planted in small clumps a few centimetres apart, it grows and creates a beautiful carpet at the bottom of the aquarium. Found in Cuba west of Havana.
Hemianthus callitrichoides is an attractive and popular plant for small aquariums.
It is not a difficult plant, but it requires good conditions such as enough light, additional CO2, water circulation and fertilizer to thrive. If these conditions are difficult to create, you can use Micranthemum 'Monte-Carlo' as an alternative, as it is less demanding.
Small pearls or oxygen bubbles are often produced above the plants, adding a very lively aspect to the carpet.
Cut the top of the plant regularly otherwise the lower parts will not get enough light causing root death.
It was found in Cuba, west of Havana.
