A beautiful and very diverse species from West Africa with leaves ranging from green to red-brown and varying numbers of purple spots. It can grow from 20-80 cm. Before the floating leaves form Nymphaea lotus (zenkeri) forms many submerged leaves. If you don't want floating leaves, prune the roots and leaves; a nutritious substrate encourages growth.
The beautiful, fragrant flowers can be fully appreciated in open aquariums.
Recommended as a solitary plant for large aquariums.
