This form of Bucephalandra pygmaea is found in Bukit Kelam, West Kalimantan. This medium sized Bucephalandra plant has wide ranging, green to brown-green, fairly soft leaves about 5cm long and 2cm wide. The margin is more or less wavy, and the lower part of the leaf is greenish.

In nature, Bucephalandra usually grows on rocks or wood in rivers and streams - like Anubias, which are similar in use and care in the aquarium.

Bucephalandra 'Bukit Kalem' is an easy slow-growing plant that prefers lower light levels. A nice, dense appearance is ensured by its willingness to branch, even without mowing.

The green leaves are 2 cm wide and 5 cm long with wavy edges. Tiny white spots will appear on the sunken leaves.

The creeping stem, the rhizome, should not be covered when planting. This will cause the plant to rot and die.
