In 1970, Makis Karastamatis acquired his first aquarium.

Such is his love for this hobby that he soon builds 30 aquariums in a private space and starts studying and breeding tropical fish. In 1975, together with his brother Dimitris, he founded the company "AMAZONIOS" with the construction of aquariums and the trade of tropical fish. At that time the aquarium hobby was not well enough known in Greece to become known nationwide. For this reason, in 1979 they published a magazine entitled ¨TROPICO AQUARIUM¨. They take part with stylish stands at the INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION OF THESSALONIKI in FURNITEC and other sectoral exhibitions, each time with new beautiful and functional aquariums, raising the level of good quality aquariums.

In 1985 the company expands and creates a second new large store of 480 square meters on Aggelaki Street. In 2005 the new blood of the Karastamatis family, Stelios and Ioannis, take over the reins of the company, renovating both stores and offering the best services to their customers.
