Microsorum pteropus 'Narrow' has narrower leaves, which grow at a less acute angle than normal Microsorum pteropus; the leaves grow to 10-20 cm and the rhizome to 10-15 cm or more. The plant readily attaches to roots and stones. An ornamental plant, which is also suitable for small aquariums.

It is a water fern tied to wood. It is a very hardy plant that thrives in all conditions. The black spots under its leaves are sporangia (reproductive organs) and not signs of disease in the plant as many people mistakenly believe.
