Corydoras aeneus is one of the most popular species of the genus Corydoras, since, together with Corydoras paleatus, it has been known in the aquarium world for several decades.
They are the favorite bottom fish for most hobbyists, since in any social aquarium they are considered essential for cleaning the bottom of the tank from the leftover food that the other fish have not had time to eat. Many other species of Corydoras have entered the market in recent years, but for many years C. aeneus were the most common "catfish".
